Hey there,
Marissa here from Yes to Dessert!
As a child, I baked in my model kitchen dressed up as a princess. Now, I find myself in my own kitchen, trying new recipes and creating some of my own. I’m a self-taught home cook. While the journey may come with its challenges, each trial and error brings valuable lessons along with delicious results. As I explore the limits of my kitchen, I invite you to join me in sharing your thoughts, suggestions, and experiences, as we navigate the sweet side of baking together. Let's celebrate the joy of creating delightful desserts while learning from one another. Your feedback will not only enrich my journey but also inspire others to embrace the art of baking from scratch. Together, we can cultivate a community of passionate bakers who thrive on sharing knowledge and, of course, sweet treats.
Born and raised in the vibrant streets of New York City, I embarked on a journey that took me from the bustling urban landscape to the charm of Lewiston, Maine for my undergraduate studies at Bates College. I obtained my B. A. in Politics with minors in Chinese and Philosophy. It was at Bates where I adopted the phrase, “weekends are for waffles” and created my signature sandwich (peanut butter, raisins, carrots). I studied abroad in London, England, an experience that awakened my passion for travel. Now residing in Boston, Massachusetts, after obtaining my M.S in International Relations at Northeastern University, I balance my career pursuits with my love for discovering unique desserts. Whether it's a local bakery or a specialty dessert shop abroad, I relish in the joy of trying new sweets and the adventure that accompanies it.
